3 Things to Know for the
New Year
2015 promises to be a year of new initiatives, partnerships, and
continued educational excellence at CUSD.
Here are three things to be aware of in the new year:
IB Task Force
The Board has formed an IB (International Baccalaureate) Task
Force to look into the possible expansion of the IB program in CUSD. Jefferson
Elementary School has offered a successful IB program since 2003, The Task
Force plans to undertake a parent interest survey, conduct IB school visits to
several schools in Vista, and outline a possible professional development plan
for teachers at IB schools. They will also explore potential business and city
partnerships and funding sources. The Task Force will present their findings to
the Board at the March Board meeting.
MiraCosta College Winter
Semester (MCCflyer)
A new semester of MiraCosta College courses begins the week of
January 20 at Sage Creek High School. Students can study art, biology, film,
Spanish, and more. CUSD students can earn high school and college credits at
the same time, and high school students don’t have to pay MiraCosta’s
enrollment fees. Courses are open to the community.
Open Enrollment Window (Enrollment/Intradistrict Transfer Flyer)
It’s Enrollment and Transfer time in CUSD.
High School
Selection Window: January 5 to 30, 2015 It’s time for all 8th grade students to
determine and declare which of CUSD’s first-rate high schools they wish to
attend--Carlsbad High School or Sage Creek High School. Also, if currently
enrolled high school students want to transfer to the other high school, this
is their opportunity to apply. High school selection form here.
Elementary and
Middle School Window: January 1 to March 31, 2015 CUSD has an Open Enrollment Policy. Select
the excellent CUSD school that is right for your child. For students who wish
to apply to attend a different school, please check the attached information.
Kindergarten and
Transitional Kindergarten Registration
Come and visit your local schools, meet your child’s teachers, and
register for kindergarten or TK. Kindergarten Roundup (for the families of
students turning five on or before September 1, 2015) and Transitional
Kindergarten Roundup (for the families of students turning five between
September 2 and December 2, 2015) will be held at each site prior to March 31.
